McGill University Nursing Initiative for the Old Brewery Mission

The Old Brewery Mission is an organization whose mandate aims to put an end to chronic homelessness in Montreal. The Community Based Organization (CBO) mission is based upon six key areas of action that include, Emergency & Welcome, Psychosocial Support, Urban Health, Housing Options, Support in the Community and Knowledge Building & Sharing, which all provide solutions to help house homeless men and women permanently. Including an emergency shelter location at the former Royal Victoria hospital, it attends to the needs of the homeless population to offer them an opportunity for a better quality of life. To do so, the organization provides food and shelter for individuals whose struggle with homelessness. Although these individuals may not be completely independent, the goal for the CBO is to maximize their independence, before providing them with alternative housing options.

Our goal as nursing students collaborating with the CBO includes providing as much help we can in order to help achieve their goals. All donations will go directly to the CBO and are greatly appreciated to help the CBO and homeless population in order to improve their resources!

La Mission Old Brewery est un organisme dont le mandat vise à mettre fin à l’itinérance chronique à Montréal. La mission de l’organisation communautaire est basée sur six domaines d’action clés qui comprennent urgence et accueil, soutien psychosocial, santé urbaine, options de logement, soutien dans la communauté et le développement des connaissances, qui fournissent tous des solutions pour aider à loger les hommes et les femmes sans abri de façon permanente. En incluant un abri d’urgence à l’ancien hôpital Royal Victoria, il s’occupe des besoins de la population sans-abri pour leur offrir l’occasion d’améliorer la qualité de vie. Pour ce faire, l’organisme fournit de la nourriture et des abris aux personnes qui luttent contre l’itinérance. Bien que ces personnes ne soient peut-être pas complètement indépendantes, l’objectif de l’organisation est de maximiser leur indépendance avant de leur offrir d’autres options de logement.

Notre objectif en tant qu’étudiants en soins infirmiers qui collaborent avec l’organisation consiste à fournir autant d’aide possible afin d’aider à atteindre leurs objectifs. Tous les dons seront directement remis à l’organisation et grandement appréciés pour aider la population sans-abri!
